'She's not your father...'

This is another depiction from Karen Traviss' SW LOTF novel Sacrifice. It's Luke Skywalker's last meaningful conversation with his wife Mara Jade Skywalkers before she is killed towards the end of the book. They are having a semi heated 'discussion' about Lumiya as well as Luke's hand holding incident with, as Mara puts it, "Lumiya. Queen of the stanging Sith". I imagine it is a conversation that will stay with the Grand Master and haunt him till at least the end of the series and possibly into his companionless years far beyond.To fully understand this little illustration I will let this direct excerpt paint the scene for you:

Sacrifice pg. 70:

Mara grabbed Luke's face in both hands and made him look into her eyes. "Luke you could have killed her. Cut her in two. Finished the job. But you didn't."
Luke felt inexplicably ashamed. "I couldn't."
"I know. We come from different schools of justice, don't we?"
"Sweetheart-"
"She's not your father, Luke. There's nothing good left in her to redeem. She's a threat that needs to be taken out, and that's what I'm trained to do, and you're not. Forget this take her alive if possible garbage. The only way anyone's taking her is dead."
